 Events   IO/UNS Newsletter
January 20, 2021

Dear IO/UNS Community

Welcome to the Spring semester! We hope that you had a chance to relax before the new term and we look forward to engaging with many of you in the Spring.

We'd also like to welcome new SIPA students who freshly joined our community. We look forward to getting to know you and to seeing you at our events.

This week, we'd like to kick off the new semester with a:

  • IO/UNS Happy Hour, Friday, January 22, 5:00-6:00 pm. This will give new and continuing students a chance to chat, for you to get to know our new PAs Vato and Sanya, and we've got a few fun activitities planned. RSVP Here.

Students graduating this Spring: this is a gentle reminder to submit your IO/UNS plans on Stellic by January 22.

Lastly, we're excited that Sanya Batra and Vato Gogsadze are joining the IO/UNS specialization as program assistants. They are bringing great energy and fresh ideas to our activities. Feel free to reach out to any of us with suggestions, comments or concerns.

Best,
Daniel, Sanya, & Vato

Attention May 2021 Graduates:
Review Your IO/UNS Specialization Audit Plan in Stellic

This year for the first time, IO/UN Studies will use Stellic to approve your specialization audit plans. Stellic is SIPA’s new auditing tool and automatically matches approved courses you have either completed or are currently taking with IO/UNS requirements.

To make sure that you are on track to meet your IO/UNS requirements for graduation, we ask that you log in to Stellic at https://columbia.stellic.com, and carefully review your IO/UNS profile before you start registering for spring courses. If you have yet to fulfill a specific IO/UNS requirement, be sure to plan accordingly.

Each student expecting to graduate in May 2021 must finalize their plan by Friday, January 22, 2021. IO/UNS will then confirm that your plan has been approved and that you are expected to complete all concentration requirements by checking off the IO/UNS Specialization Audit Certification button in your Stellic profile.

Students who wish to count a course that hasn’t been approved for IO/UNS can submit a request to IO/UNS interim director Daniel Naujoks (dn2380) for the course to be considered. They should email the course syllabus and specify which track they wish to count it for.
